the importance of buying locally

Hey y'all!

I'd love to take a minute to talk about an issue that is really important to me... the importance of buying locally.

As you know, we really try to support local businesses whenever we can here in the Indulge shop. This means that most of our vendors are either from New England or the Tri-State area. Some of our vendors are even from Fairfield County.

Why is this so important?

First and foremost, buying locally allows us to support local small businesses. And in turn, these local small businesses are able to hire employees in the area. It's simple: locally owned businesses create local jobs. By stopping by local shops, you are literally helping your neighbors. Sometimes, this can make a huge difference. You really never know how much people are struggling to find jobs and support their families until you are in their shoes...

I have also come to find that these one-of-a-kind businesses offer better customer service and take more time to really produce quality products. A lot of these owners are also into helping the environment by using innovative "green" technology and recycled materials. And, if you think about it, a shop owner who manufactures his products down the road doesn't pollute our air and water nearly as much as if a product were manufactured in China. The product doesn't need to ship all over the world in airplanes and trucks and boats before it gets to you...

Being a small business owner myself, I like to support our fellow entrepreneuers who are taking risks... Pretty cool.

Also, I'd love it if you'd check out our new Vendor Page which talks about where our products come from. (Of course it doesn't include every business we work with... but it gives you an idea.... and we are still in the process of putting all of our vendors on there... this is just a taste!) I really think it's a nice touch to share with you the stories behind these businesses... some are really interesting. And soon, we're going to do an interview series with some of these owners which I think y'all will really enjoy.

Anyway, I hope y'all are having a wonderful Friday afternoon and check back for our We Love post tomorrow morning...

xoxo
